Golf club and ball

Golf

Golf is a club-and-ball sport where players use various clubs to hit balls into a series of holes on a course in as few strokes as possible.

There are different ways to play golf, including the standard 9 or 18 hole rounds on a full golf course, as well as  'Pitch & Putt' which is played over a much shorter course, and Mini or Putt Putt Golf, a novelty golf game played with a putter on a miniature course usually having tunnels, bridges, sharp corners, and obstacles.

Local Golf Opportunities

Golf is a fun, healthy, sociable sport played by over 1.2 million participants nationwide that can be played by young and old over the full life cycle. Golf Australia believes that every Australian should be able to participate in our sport in a welcoming and inclusive way.

Start at your local golf club. All clubs have competitions you can enter and times and days when you can play a game without being part of a competition. They also have Golf Professionals who can either provide you with private coaching sessions or hook you up with someone who can.

Canberra has a bunch of golf courses in every part of the city, as well as driving ranges to get some practice in and Pitch and Putt courses to have a bit of fun and practice your 'short' game.

Visit the ACT Monaro Golf Association website or Golf NSW website to find your local club.
